Micki Sumpter,
Chamber Director

Dear Chamber Members:

Happy Fourth of July!

Hope the season is a positive and prosperous one for all of you. We have welcomed Jean Aldrich for our summer tourism afternoon position.  She and Betty are busy assisting tourists and many Maine people with information. Please call us if you need more guidebooks or any other information in regards to tourism.  The staff is working on many projects. Membership benefits, updating information signs, developing a new map for Ellsworth and the area, and continuing to set up the new Chamber offices.

Summer has hardly started and we are already gearing up for September and “Autumn Gold.”  This year’s weekend is September 26, 27, and 28.  Many activities are being planned. Businesses on High Street are planning a new event, a block party for the evening of the 26th.  Other events are dances, the chowder fest, car show, train rides and displays, lots of sales and many other activities. It will be a weekend of fun! In the last few months, the area has experienced much construction. We know it has been difficult with all the issues surrounding the economy as well as the construction. Thank you for your patience and fortitude.  If you need assistance, please call the Chamber at 667-5584. We will keep you posted with any updates on construction projects or DOT issues.

Thank you for your continued support of the Chamber and the community.

Sincerely,

Micki Sumpter
Executive Director
